At DABIS our goal is to educate and train investigators on understanding shrink and its impact on retail, ways to develop fraud investigations in retail, and generate new revenue. This course is also designed to teach business owners how to become more profitable through fraud and shrink prevention. These courses are also available to loss prevention professionals, and law enforcement officers. Each of our classes was designed for advanced learning in specific areas to assist our clients. Below you will find brief descriptions of our training courses (Volumes 1-5), as well as sample test questions we use as part of our learning program. Employee & Vendor Theft Investigation
      
This (8) hour Employee & Vendor Theft Investigation course is designed to assist private investigators, law enforcement officials, loss prevention professionals, and business owners with understanding how theft occurs, and ways to detect fraud. This course is also designed to give business owners ways to prevent theft and fraud from occurring.  Private investigators who take this course will receive recertification or renewal of your investigative license as required by the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigators. To assist with training and understanding, we will be discussing several topics. Which are?



• Understanding Profit & Loss and Its Impact
• The beginning process of employee & Vendor theft
• What are identifiable signs of employee theft
• What is non-actionable theft
• What is actionable theft
• How to develop employee & vendor cases
• What is an operative and why are operative investigations are important
• How to develop employee theft cases through actionable profiling
• What are the laws pertaining to employee theft
• How to prevent employee & vendor theft
• Protecting yourself from liability
• Report writing, and
• Why statements are important, and how to take them


At the end of this course, all trainees should have increased knowledge of employee & vendor theft which should assist with successful investigations and resolutions, case developments, court testimony, report writing, etc. It is our hope that the information received will assist with long term development for private investigators, loss prevention professionals, and law enforcement personnel as well as assisting business owners with knowledge prevention, and profit increase.

Spanish to English Training & Using An Interpreter
      
This (8) hour Spanish to English Training & Using An Interpreter course is designed to assist private investigators, law enforcement officials, loss prevention professionals, and business owners with developing an open line of communication with those being investigated which may create a language barrier. It is also designed to train on using a non-investigative person (an interpreter) to assist with understanding, and abstracting information needed. Private investigators who take this course will receive recertification or renewal of your investigative license as required by the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigators and Texas Department of Transportation. To assist with training and understanding, we will be discussing several topics in Spanish. Which are?

• Learning The Alphabet/El Alfabeto & Numbers/ Numeros
• Learning Words In English/Ingles & Spanish/Espaρol
• Learning Verbs/Verbos
• Learning Adjectives/Adjetivos
• Learning Greetings/Saludos
• Learning Days Of The Week/Dias De La Semana

At the end of this course, all trainees should have basic bilingual communication skills that will assist with long term development in their careers as private investigators, loss prevention professionals, and law enforcement personnel. This training will also assist business owner’s enhanced communication and development.

Shoplift Detection and Prevention Techniques
      
This (8) hour Shoplift Detection and Prevention Technique course is designed to assist private investigators as well as business owners with their understanding and knowledge of how External theft occurs and ways to detect and prevent. This course is also intended to assist the private investigator or your investigators with recertification or renewal of your investigative license as required by the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigators and Texas Department of Transportation. To assist with training and understanding, we will be discussing several topics. Which are?


• The shoplifters emotional rollercoaster (graph)
• Procedures to addressing the shoplifter (graph)
• Shoplifter identification
• Adult vs. Juvenile
• Required steps to make a shoplifting detention
• Making the detention
• Witnesses
• Prevention techniques and their function
• Discontinued detentions

• Shoplifting Actionable vs. Non-actionable

At the end of this course, everyone should have increased knowledge of shoplift detection and prevention techniques which should assist with successful resolutions. Retail Investigations
      
This (8) hour Retail Investigation course is designed to cover specific areas of retail which may be unfamiliar to you or your Investigators. This course is also intended to assist you or your Investigators with recertification or renewal of your investigative license as required by the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigators and Texas Department of Transportation. To assist you with completing successful operations, we will be discussing several topics. Which are:

Becoming A Loss Prevention Professional
      
This (6) week training course on becoming a Loss Prevention professional, is designed to cover specific areas of retail which will assist Criminal Justice majors, Private Investigators, Business Owners, Loss Prevention Professionals, and Private Citizens with learning and understanding key components of fraud, employee theft, logistics, and training which may be unfamiliar to them. Our course is designed to give detailed information to our students and not basic understanding. This training course will also assist Private Investigators with generating new clients and revenue. Businesses, small and large will be trained through this program which is geared towards prevention and development of current or future employees. This course is also intended to assist Private Investigators with recertification or renewal of their investigative license as required by the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigators and the Texas Department of Transportation.
